Was extremely lucky that I found Dr. Anderson. I had a severe tooth infection, and he wasn't working in his Logan office that day (a Friday) but got a hold of him on his emergency number, and he went out of his way to promptly meet me at his Logan office and perform an emergency surgery to relieve my severely swollen face from the swelling from the infection. Was extremely worried that my face was swelling more and more by the day and was worried that I wouldn't be able to find anyone before the weekend. My dentist tried to help the day prior to that but only made things much worse. It was the worst pain I've ever felt, but Dr. Anderson saved my butt, and was extremely pleasant to work with, easy to talk to, and very kind. Thank you Dr. Anderson! Would be happy to come back to you anytime!

See How Dental Treatment Can Improve Your Smile

Treatment such as dental implant placement can fill in the gaps caused by missing teeth. Implants are also the only restorative dentistry treatment that can stop and prevent jawbone deterioration, which can eliminate the need for bone grafting later.

Types of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Because oral and facial trauma can vary so much from patient to patient, every treatment plan is unique. Whether Dr. Anderson recommends dental implants or corrective jaw surgery will depend completely upon your needs. After examining you and reviewing your medical history during an initial consultation, he can make a recommendation as to which procedures are best suited to your situation. These may include:

Dental Implants

Tooth loss is often a result of facial injury. Missing teeth can not only impact the appearance of your smile but also its function. Dental implants are titanium posts that support restorations such as dentures, dental crowns, and dental bridges to fill in the gap caused by missing teeth. They also stop and prevent jawbone recession that can occur with tooth loss.

Jaw Surgery

Surgery is often considered a last resort. However, some jaw issues cannot be resolved through orthodontics or non-surgical options, especially in cases of facial trauma or facial fractures. Our skilled oral surgeon can perform maxillofacial surgery to relieve pain and improve function as well as appearance.

Bone Grafting

The jawbone relies on tooth roots to provide stimulation. When a patient loses a tooth, the jaw loses that stimulation and can begin to deteriorate. When bone loss is significant, bone grafting is often needed to build up the area and allow you to qualify for dental implant placement. Dr. Anderson can restore your missing bone tissue with biocompatible grafting material.

I felt exceedingly well cared for by Dr. Anderson and his staff. Though this immediate post-op period isn't fun, I am confident that all will be "blue skies and green lights" again soon.

What to Expect from Your Results

The ultimate goal for a maxillofacial surgeon is to repair any damage done and restore function to your smile. What those results will look like depends on the patient's needs and the treatments in question. While frenectomy or extraction will have immediate results, placing dental implants or completing corrective jaw surgery requires months of recovery before your body adjusts.

Dr. Anderson will lay out a comprehensive timeline for your treatment during your initial consultation at his practice in Logan, UT.

Cost of Facial Trauma Treatment & How You Can Afford It

Your total treatment cost will be shaped by several factors:

Type of Surgery

The type of surgery you will require depends on your injuries and how severe they are. The complexity of your injury, the area of treatment, and intricacy required all contribute to the total cost of your treatment.

Number of Procedures Required

Your case may require several procedures and even multiple specialists to restore proper function and aesthetics. This can significantly impact your overall cost of treatment.

Elective vs. Emergency Medical Care

Depending on the cause or severity of your injury, you may require emergency care. As opposed to those who delay care or seek treatment electively, there are typically higher costs associated with urgent or emergency department services.

To help you afford the treatment you need, Dr. Anderson strives to keep costs low. He also accepts CareCredit® financing and offers generous payment plans to cover out-of-pocket costs. Patients who pay 20 percent down can make manageable monthly payments with no service or collection fees. His team works closely with patients' insurance providers to maximize coverage. Dr. Anderson also accepts Medicaid.

Millions of Patients Move Forward with Their Lives after Facial Trauma

Each year, approximately three million patients seek emergency treatment for facial trauma injuries. There is hope after serious facial trauma. According to recent studies, most patients who underwent facial reconstruction after an injury were satisfied with the outcome of their procedure and noted an improvement in psychological well-being and social function.
